Time: just before sunset, out on the dog beach.
Poor ol' Buddy. I have to admit, this photo made me cringe!
They were actually having fun, although the lab was in perpetual motion, almost non-stop.
I feel bad for Buddy sometimes, he gets so bewildered, trying to keep tabs on everything.
Shakin out the ears:
Finally, free from the life jacket!
I could not believe how fast the little weiner dog could run. This one went from 0-60 in a NY second. By day, he races BMW's at their test facility.
These pit bulls had everyone on edge. They kept snapping at the other dogs and the owner would then turn around and yell at them to behave. I ended up bringing Buddy back down the beach to where we were seated until they left. Several other owners followed suit and pulled their dogs away. Fortunately. the guy didn't stay very long.
And then the night came rolling in.

I wish there was a beach nearby where I could bring my dogs in the summer...gotta wait for autumn, when they're allowed again! That last picture is spectacular!

I love your pics! They look like they're having so much fun. We have a 7 month old Beagle who is terrified of water. He shakes and cries whenever we take him to the beach and getting him to go outside if the sprinklers are on is impossible LOL What is it with Pit Bull owners who just assume everyone else is ok with their dogs? Always makes me mad.

Pitbulls ... bah, humdog!
Buddy looks like he can still run with the big dogs!

I love that pic of the black dog in mid flight! Priceless! And poor Buddy; that ear bite looked irritating! I know it's play, but still...!
I stopped going to the dog park near us because of the pits. They're aggressive, dominant and won't stop for *anything*.

It looks like they all had a great time. My Indy LOVES the water, but the only time I've taken her to sal;t water, she drank it! D'oh!!! Haven't been back to the beach since.

Buddy is just the happiest, seems to really love life. What a great mommy you are!

Aww doggies!
As an aside, I am dogsitting a pit. He is the sweetest dog and I've taken him to a dog park and he is well behaved...though he did particularly like one female! My friend who I am dogsitting for is the world's biggest animal lover and has a saying "Dog's don't make bad dogs, people make bad dog's" and I whole heartedly agree.
"My" woggie will give you the best kisses ever and love to cuddle. He also high-fives...especially for treats.
Just sticking up for the pitties.

Misti, I've known a few pit bulls in my time and they were real sweethearts. One of them, a regular at a vet hospital I worked at, used to shower me with hugs and kisses whenever I showed up in the morning. She was a really good dog, and she was brought up to be a friendly, sociable pet.
There's a pit bull in our neighborhood that is walked on the leash with his owner nearly every day, and Buddy always makes a fool of himself running around the dog and barking. The dog never blinks an eye, just waits for his owner to decide what to do. This has been going on for 10 years.
He wags his tail when he sees us coming, but he won't do a thing till he's given a command. I know the owner, he's a nice guy.
I didn't like these particular pit bulls at the beach because of their temper. They would snap at the other dogs, and given their power and size, I didn't want to take the risk of messing with them. Rick took some photos of me leading Buddy away from the scene, and of another owner holding his dog to keep him from going near them.
The owner appeared to have a sizeable ego, and he seemed to think he could control their every move by barking out a command.
It just wasn't a good situation at all.
I think you're right, people do make bad dogs. And that's the saddest thing of all.

Oh, the sweet old Labs always just so happy to be out and playing! I loved these. I've often wondered what Earl and Eudora would think of the ocean. Martin said it would be hot and confusing since they weren't brought up as ocean pups but I still think it would be a grand time for them!

Those are some great pics. I know the one at the top made you cringe but I'm sure they are just playing.
