There are a few good things that are right with this world, and sometimes in the face of tragedy, a good wind rolls in to make things better:
ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is in town this week to rebuild the home of the family of James Dolan, who was blinded in a shooting at Radio Shack in November of 2004. Dolan was shot in the head when a gunman entered the store and began a shooting rampage that killed employee Joanna Cruz, 19 and a customer, Kenneth Powell, 23. The shooter then turned the gun on himself and died on the scene.
Dolan's family had already had to deal with damage to their home from the previous hurricane season, and his wife had just undergone surgery when the shooting occured. He is now blind and and faces a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him.
Every day the local news will show some of the makeover in process. I can't believe how fast the house is going up. They bulldozed the original house on Tuesday and the walls are already up on the new 5,000sq foot house. Yesterday the crews had to deal with non stop rain and 40 degree temperatures and high winds. The crew chief said not a single person complained.
Here's a site with more stories and daily updated photos. I can't believe this is going on in my own hometown! I hope I can get some live pictures to show you all too. and if I see Ty, im going to faint.
Of all the shows on tv, it's good that there is a show like this one that genuinely helps people in need. stay tuned!!
UPDATE: finally got picts!
