Yep, that's my girl. I'm not surprised to read that story. When your mom and dad were in California and we were staying with you and Brittany we took you to a restaurant. There was a stray kitten the cooks were feeding and you wanted to take it home. You could not catch it (for which your mom will be grateful since you had two cats) and you kept worrying about that kitten all the way home.
Your uncles had iguanas. They escaped and I swear I did not let them go. One of them also had a snake, one I did not know about until I moved the his bed to clean under it and it scared the living daylights out of me.
Keep on being the loving compassionate person you already are we love you.
Grandma and Grandpa

Show me a young person with compassion and concern for animals, and I'll show you a young person who has been raised with proper values and will be an asset to society and a source of pride to her family.

When my daughters would periodically ... OK, more often than that ... drive me crazy during those teenage years (you may know the ones, those years where all of a sudden Mom and Dad suffer a catasrophic IQ loss and overnight become the stoopidest and meanest people on the planet), I would cling to the certain knowledge that if they loved helpless animals, sooner or later they would turn out alright.

Congratulations to Sam on surviving her parents' IQ dip (they'll recover in a couple of years) ... and congratulations to you, darlin', for having done so much right with your kids ...

Well Sam, this is just incredible! I recall first seeing you at my sister Lynn's house when you were a lil' tyke and I was amazed at how you already knew some sign language at 1 year old! Cutest thing in the house, you were! Loved to watch your lil' fingers spell!
16 years later, and I can't believe how time has flown. I went to your house once (the old one, haven't seen the one you live in now) and that's about it. Haven't seen you guys in ages...
I have 4 kids myself so I totally know what it's like to watch them grow up. I'm blessed that they are all ok.
And I'm very happy that you've turned out ok. Especially that you're an animal lover. My dad, Larry, was always a nature lover as well, and he taught me the value of the outdoors and of living with our fellow creatures. So this is a part of our family. My sister Lynn is a Biologist and I think all of my aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews are animal lovers, too.
I can only wish the very best for you as you grow and become a lovely woman and I look forward to seeing you again, in person, someday, and that you'll be able to meet my family, as well.

Hi Smantha
Sorry I'm a day late. We were up at Grandma and Grandpa's for Grandpa's 82nd birthday. Hope you had a great day. Laura and Rick all I can say is I loved those teenage years but thank God they're over!!!!! Say Hi to Brittany for us. All our Love Aunt Nancy, Sebrina and Brent
P.S. remember if those hurricanes get too much, you know you always have an escape up here in the glorious Canadian Wilderness!!!

Happy Birthday Samantha! 17 is a great year! Enjoy it!

I can talk my daughter into holding some bugs, but there are some that even I won't touch. And we have those little gecko lizards around our house. Those things are too fast for me to catch! But an iguana! I might faint!

Happy birthday to Samantha and empathy for Mom and Dad. My 17 year old Katie is very similar..Animal Planet on the TV and critters in the house. What a blessing.

Sounds like a great kid. I hope her birthday is lots of fun!
