I've always wanted to redo our master bedroom in soothing spa colors of cream with sage green and purple accents. But I couldn't find a comforter in those colors that had a pattern I liked or a price that I wanted to pay. And THEN....
For my birthday, Rick actually went shopping with me.
::THUD::
To my amazement, we actually found a comforter that we both liked, except it is a rich navy blue with a paisley pattern and gold accents, and doesn't resemble my original "vision" at all.
But I really love this comforter, so I bought it, and today I decided to get a head start on repainting the bedroom.
It has been the same deep blue for almost 8 years now and I was getting tired of it.
We're leaving town next week. I thought if I got the primer coat up now , it will set well enough so that the original blue won't "bleed" through the new shade, as often happens when you paint a light shade over a darker one. I'll paint the main color when I get home. I THINK it's going to be a pale cream or tan shade... not real sure yet.
Here I express my utter joy that Britt has come into the bedroom to help me paint:
Found out she didn't even CARE that I was all alone in there, working myself to death...
I chased her all over the house and outside with a paint brush....
She is currently living outside and will not be allowed back in until she returns armed and ready.
My saga continues. I am the conductor! The conduit! The Maestro of Paint!
No paint fumes were inhaled during the making of this post, as far as I know.
Haha.
I ran ALL over the house trying to run away from you!
And I FINALLY got away when I went in my room and locked the door!
Haha I won=]
But anyways your doing a Spectacular job Laura.
I am very much impressed=]

ahhhh, thank YOU..
now get back to WORK!

What color are you going to paint the bedroom? I liked that blue with the white window frames Rick built. but I agree is is a bit dark.
Poor kid having to live outside. :)
Glad to know the comforter is the one you both want. Now if I can just find one I like.
Send Brit here, my bedroom needs painting.

My goodness gracious, Laura. Ain't you the pretty one. I didn't know that about you.
(P.S. Catch the little one when she comes in to eat. All kids gotta eat.)

Totally wrong approach. Read Tom Sawyer. You have to make it look like fun!
And yeah, what Hoss said ...

Uh, oh, Laura, get the guest room ready. Now that Hoss knows you're pretty, he will surely come to call soon! LOL
Our bedroom was that color dark blue when we moved here, but the previous owners had covered it with horrible yellow vinyl wallpaper. They had used sooooo much wallpaper paste tht we had to wash and wash and wash and then sand the walls before we could prime it! Glad you don't have to do all that! Post pics when it is done, okay?

Ooooh more makeovers! And aren't you just freaking adorable? (nod yes, yes you are. shut up.)
I vote tan - leaning toward gold, to bring out the gold in the comforter, and then throw a smidge of a pinstripe somewhere in navy. Oooh that'd be pretty. However you do it will be pretty, I'm sure, as if you need my help! haha!

Weird. We just painted our kitchen on Sunday.
It wasn't purple, though. That's a commitment.

Ditto Hoss. Lovely!
Now what is this business of painting in a Florida Sportsman shirt? I hope you didn't get any paint on it.

Oh I don't know about the fumes -- you seem pretty high to me LOL -- can't wait to see it finished.......oh and I hope you have let your poor child in already :)

Leanne, I do need your help. Please bring your paintbrush and I'll let you go to town! ;)
(Actually, I was leaning toward the tan shades also.)
Crackers, it's an old shirt, so... you know, I better not let hub see that pict. it's his shirt. (g)
Jeff, Purple is a huge commitment. I have a friend with an eggplant colored kitchen, but it's beautiful.
Tammy, Fun... uh.. We tried to! Want to help?
Kenju, nothing I hate more than stripping wallpaper. We had to do that in both bathrooms and the kitchen, and you're right.. I never want to do that again.
Had to laugh about your Hoss comment. ;)
Nils, that was a surprise, wasn't it. ;)
Hoss, She is still living out side. I throw her bread and water from time to time to keep her going. Builds character, you know.
Seamus, that's that's the only reason to have kids, right? LOL
Mom, thanks. Although I liked the blue, it was very calming. Just had enough after 8 years.

You're too funny, Laura...I chuckled through this entry as well as your "Mornin" one.
That blue looks similiar to what I have in our bedroom...but change is always uplifting.
Watch out....Britt will go on strike and set up a booth in front of your house. (Seems a kid..or was it the mom...did that in the Tampa area last year)

I can't wait to see the finished product! We're painting Elle's room now, and I hope to finish it off tonight!

Typepad deleted a few comments last night. Apparently they had a glitch in their ...oode? or whatever, and many Typepad blogs were affected.
Here was my original reply to some of those comments:
