wet saw: specialty saw for cutting tile.
Here's what's going on with the Kitchen.
Yesterday we laid out all the tile for the kitchen backsplash and I finally breathed a huge sigh of relief. When I first opened the boxes, the first 12 tiles that we pulled out just looked...bland. Off color. Out of Sync. Disjointed. Lacking Adjectives.
I was so disappointed, the tile is custom ordered and cannot be returned. Later, Rick laid ALL of them out on the counter and the difference was striking. We rejected a bunch and if we need to use them at all, they'll go in those areas that not visible to the human eye, like underneath the bar top. Otherwise, we're real happy with this batch. (whew.)
Always order slightly more tile than you need.
Also headed out on Hwy 19 to check out a new tile warehouse store, but couldn't find any tiles we liked. Went back to the place where we originally bought all the floor tile for our addition a few yeas ago and found a sample tile for Samantha's bathroom floor.
It looked great against the cabinet doors, which are maple and bathtub, which is white. It's a pale beige-ivory color with inlaid shell imprints. They only had a 20x20 size in stock. Chatty sales guy said if the sample looked good, to come in and order the 13x13 size. I hope this works out, because this will be the umpteenth tile sample that we've brought home to check out, and I can't look at anymore tile. They're all starting to look alike at this point.
Tomorrow I'll begin applying primer coat on the wall to remove the color blue in Sam's bathroom, painting her ceiling and getting the floor ready for new tile and baseboard. I'll also be stripping the last of the wallpaper off the window in the kitchen...I found a spot that I'd forgotten all about. That's a small job, shouldn't take long. <------- famous last words.
So things are moving along in the remodeling sector. We have both decided to repaint the master bedroom in a few months soon, no, maybe a few weeks. someday in the near future.
. Although the color is pretty and matches the new comforter, we really just don't t like the overall effect. I don't feel comfortable in my own bedroom! Not a good thing!
I'll be hitting Joann's and other fabric shops in the next week or two, looking for material for valances for both the kitchen and dining room and material to cover the chairs in the dining room.
As for the master bathroom fiasco that I wrote about last week, we've cleaned up all the mess and I'll let you know what's going on with that in due time. At the moment, we're still making decisions on a handful of projects relating to that bathroom alone. I don't want to blog about it till I'm good and ready, lol.
I have a mountain of paperwork to do, so I guess I'll get to work! What did you all do this weekend?
Did anyone catch Puppy Bowl on the Animal Planet? I watched for about 5 minutes, waiting for something to happen. Then I realized, nothing was supposed to happen, the pups were just there to play.
Ohhh.
Reminded me of American Choppers, where we all sit around and watch to see if they get the carburator in. Nothing really happens then, either. We're just there for the moment...boy, reality TV just sucks ya right in. I'm still waiting to find out if they got the grill wedged in place.
Back to the puppies, maybe something did happen, after I switched channels. hmmmmm.
let me go take some tile pictures to update this. brb!

I watched it for a few moments...then the german shepherd puppy pooped and I changed channels ;-)
Love the nautilus in the tile!

Love your tile! (We went through that last June throughout the entire house) They do tend to look all alike until you lay them out as you did. Looks great!
I DID watch the Puppy Bowl....lol I was mesmerized (little things for little minds) but thought the same as you, "what are they supposed to be doing?" Silly me....they were doing what humans need to do more of....just plain enjoying life and having fun.

Your reno schedule exhausts me ... I mean, you always do great work but Jaysus ... don't you ever just sit back and say "OK, let's enjoy this room for a week or two"? LOL
And the new masthead? God, you're talented.

House Renovations? what's that?
We've lived here almost 24 years and the same wallpaper is still in the kitchen. If I think a minute, I can tell you the color, but would have to go look to say the pattern.
Our house keeps the 0 temp weather out. And provides electricity for looking at glowy screens.
The new pikcher for the header is beautiful.

Love the new picture! I want to walk into it right now!
Renovations? I fear I may never get any, but I do have a bug up (you know where) to remove the kitchen wallpaper and paint everything. It may pass before I get around to it....LOL

I am sure you know what you are doing with the tile, but Before you start putting them down or Up...make sure they all come from the same Batch code. I got screwed when I did our floor because some tile was just a tiny bit bigger than others (different batch) I did not realize it until it was too late.

Love the fossil look tile.
Not much delay between projects down there.

My tile is still sitting, unhappily, in a stack in the garage. I swore I'd work on my bathroom this weekend. That didn't happen when the plumbing decided to go all to hell again. THIS weekend I WILL work on it. And so will Nick. Whether he likes it or not.
