The detail...... is amazing. I stood in my foyer yesterday, taking it all in, the deep blue around the golden eyes, the warm wood grains of the beach chair, feathers so realistic, you could swear the bird itself was standing right in front of you.
Leanne's painting had arrived, not the original, which she sold at an art exhibition to a very lucky buyer, but my copy, which she graciously put on canvas and sent to me. I feel as if it's a part of me, this photo, and she brought it to life. One early morning on Indian Rocks Beach, this heron stood patiently as I walked around him shooting, clicking, willing a good photo to come out of it. But I never dreamed it would turn into this.
I had planned to put the painting in the living room on a wall between two windows, perfect spot, I thought. But I was out shopping for homecoming dresses with Brittany on the day the heron arrived, so Rick opened the box first and knew exactly where to put it. It hangs in the newly painted foyer because the sage green wall color, it turned out, was just made for the heron. It's the first thing you see when you walk into the house and you can see it from the living room and family rooms as well.
It is beautiful, Leanne. I can't thank you enough.
If you haven't seen her gallery yet, you're in for a treat.
The original Heron post is here.
And here, at Leanne's site.
"Save the box," I said to Rick.
"Why is that?" he replied.
"If a hurricane comes, I need to wrap it up and get it out of the weather."
Richard just grinned, and nodded.
You betcha.
It is gorgeous - and does justice to the wonderful artist who took the original photo.

The feeling is mutual, Laura. Without him standing on that chair, and you with your camera at the right moment and all the right settings, there would be no painting. Now I finally feel like the circle is complete, and I thank you for sharing this experience with me!!

This IS ironic that we both chose the same topic for today...lol Hey, what can I say...great minds think alike.
This painting is amazing! And I visited Leanne's site...exactly what I said on my blog today....she said she's self-taught. This IS indeed a very special gift she has. I saw some of her work on the site. Spectacular!
And it all just causes me to wonder even more....
